How It Works
From customer handoff to verified network event.
Six steps from the customer's drop-off to the downstream workflow that needs to act on it.
The RTNS verified handoff workflow
One consistent flow across returns, drop-offs, and every carrier path.
Each step explained.
Customer receives return or shipping drop-off option
A retailer, marketplace, brand, or shipping platform initiates the workflow. The customer receives a drop-off option — a QR code, label, or confirmation — for an eligible return, shipment, or handoff.
Customer drops package or item at an RTNS-enabled location
The customer brings the package or item to any RTNS-connected drop-off location. RTNS-enabled locations accept multiple carriers in a single visit — no separate trips required.
Handoff is scanned and verified
The counter staff scans and accepts the package or item. RTNS captures the handoff event in real time — before the item enters the carrier network.
RTNS captures time, location, item description, visual verification, and carrier path
A structured verification record is created: counter location, timestamp, order or shipment reference, item description, visual verification images, and carrier path assignment.
Event is sent to retailer, marketplace, carrier, or platform
The verified handoff record travels downstream to the systems that need to act — returns platform, OMS, WMS, shipping platform, carrier intake system, or support platform.
Refund, tracking, resale, warranty, or disposition workflow continues
Because the handoff is verified, downstream workflows move forward with confidence — faster refund decisions, cleaner resale routing, warranty claim support, fraud reduction, and better customer communication.
